Wisconsin Fishing Season 2011

Wednesday, May 4th, 2011

Opening day for Wisconsin fishing is traditionally the first Saturday in May, May 7th during 2011. Hook and line fishing for many species of fish on many Wisconsin waters begins the first Saturday in May. However, to better manage Wisconsin fisheries, season dates are often specific to the species of fish as well as the water body.

Here’s the link to the Wisconsin DNR 2011 Fishing Season Web Pages. Have a fun and safe time on enjoying Wisconsin’s beautiful lakes and rivers.

200 Miles of Brats

You know summer has finally arrived in Wisconsin when the wind carries the fragrant smell of freshly cut lawns, and brats on the grill.  For those of you not familiar with this Wisconsin delicacy, a brat (rhymes with hot) is a German style sausage served on a bun, a bratwurst.

This past weekend at the World’s Largest Brat Fest, held annually in Madison,  189,432 bratwursts were consumed, a Brat Fest record.  That amounts to 37,886 pounds of brats, or over 200 miles of brats if ‘linked’ (pun intended) end to end.

On your next drive up north just imagine a line of brats strung down the center-line guiding you home.

Land Rush

We’re putting together a fall property sale and using this image as the web page header and on the real estate flier. It’s from a mural done for the government in the 1930′s depicting the great western land run. Look at that guy on the bike!

Update, October 27, 2007:  The Fall Land Rush is now on.
